WSTF Community Forest Association Groups Training

Through financial assistance to Kenya Government from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Spanish  Trust Fund an eight year (2012-2020) Integrated Upper Tana Natural Resources Management Project (UTaNRMP) was started which aims at poverty reduction targeting households whose livelihoods revolves around the use of natural resources of Upper Tana catchment.  The project area covers six counties namely, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Muran’ga and includes the Mt. Kenya and Aberdares National Parks and surrounding Forest Reserves

WSTF, has been mandated on behalf of UTaNRMP to fund community based activities in water and natural resource management. The activities are to be implemented by WRUAs and CFAs which are required to work closely with Water Resources Authority (WRA) and Kenya Forest Service (KFS) respectively. However, most of the CFAs and WRUAs that have qualified for funding do not have enough capacity to handle finances and manage projects hence the need to be trained thoroughly on financial management, Procurement procedures, Proposal development, Project Management and cross cutting issues before implementing of projects.

In view of this, WSTF organized for a three (3) days training (4th - 8th February 2020) with two (2) sessions on the above mentioned modules for the CFAs, for the six target counties.
