Thematic Focus

CETRAD research activities are conducted within the frame of the four major thrusts:
  1. Strategies for Sustainable Development;
  2. Land Use Planning for Sustained Livelihood and Optimal Resource Use;
  3. Promotion of Sustainable Resource Use and Management for Improved Productivity; and
  4. Non-farm/Non-pastoral Economic Development, Infrastructure and Services.
The research activities are grouped according to the respective framework of funding that include:
  • National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) North-South Programme;
  • Eastern and Southern Africa Partnership Programme (ESAPP);
  • The Darwin Initiative;
  • Syngenta Global Stewardship/Syngenta East Africa Ltd; and
  • COMPACT of UNDP GEF/SGP.
