NCCR North South Programme

NCCR research in the Joint Areas of Case Studies (JACS) East Africa focuses on the development of a participatory and comprehensive approach to syndrome mitigation research. It addresses problems, potentials and processes of sustainable development in the three syndrome contexts: urban/peri-urban (U), semiarid areas in transition (SA) and highland-lowland systems (H-L). The main research questions are addressed within the frame of three broad research themes:
  1. Natural Resources Management in trans-contextual setting;
  2. Livelihoods, Vulnerability and Resilience in Centre - Periphery Perspectives; and
  3. Integrating Knowledge for Syndrome Assessment and Mitigation.
