INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES ON MONITORING AND MODELLING WATER RESOURCES (iMoMo) WORKSHOP iMoMo workshop, took place at Sportsman Arms Hotel, Nanyuki on 2nd March, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. The workshop (organized by CETRAD-the iMoMo Service Centre in Kenya) brought together stakeholders in the water sector in the Ewaso Ng’iro North Catchment Area including Laikipia Wildlife Forum (LWF), Rural Focus, Chief Executive Officer-Water for Meru, Isiolo and Laikipia County Government, Ewaso Ng’iro North Development Authority (ENNDA), Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA), Water Resource Users Associations (WRUAs) and large scale commercial farmers. It was aimed at getting feedback from six Crowd-senders and representatives from Water Resource Users Associations (WRUAs) that have been using the iMoMo pilot technology since October last year on the impact (positive or negative) it has had on the community. Stakeholders and other WRUAs also got an opportunity to see how the technology works and also give their opinion. The technology, developed by Hydro-Solutions which is a Swiss based company, uses an android mobile app to measure water discharge, level and velocity in a river or furrow. In attendance was the hydro-solutions CEO, Tobias Siegfried, whom together with his team made a presentation and demonstration on how the technology works. The feedback was impressive as the community members (crowd-senders and WRUA representatives) said that it has helped a lot to sensitize the community on the state of their rivers and therefore are able to accept with ease decisions made on water rationing. This in turn reduces the number of conflicts greatly.
